MTN Ghana is collaborating with industry stakeholders to maintain a verified and robust SIM registration database. As part of this effort, MTN is urging customers to verify and confirm the SIM cards linked to their Ghana Cards. If any unauthorized numbers are found, customers are encouraged to report them for delinking and deactivation.
To check the SIM cards linked to their Ghana Card, customers should:
1. Dial *402#
2. Select option 1 – “Check SIMs”
3. Enter their Ghana Card personal ID number (GHA-YYYYYYYY-Y)
4. Enter their date of birth in the format: (DDMMYYYY)
After completing these steps, customers will receive a confirmation message: “Yello! Your request has been received successfully.” The registered phone number(s) will be sent to them via SMS.
If customers detect any unauthorized numbers linked to their Ghana Card, they should visit the nearest MTN Retail Shop for assistance. MTN will provide the necessary support to deactivate any unauthorized registered numbers.
Commenting on the exercise, Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer of MTN stated, “MTN is committed to working with industry partners and our customers to compile a more resilient and robust customer database, helping to minimize fraud in the country.”
“This is a collaborative effort. We need our customers’ support to ensure the success of this exercise,” Ms. Wiafe added.
